GroupStandingWhat is Weatherization?
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program was created by Congress in 1976 under Title IV of the Energy Conservation and Production Act. The purpose of the Program is to increase the energy efficiency of dwellings owned or occupied by low-income persons.
Wisconsin’s Weatherization Program offers the following services, depending on the results of an energy audit, to qualified households: insulation, energy efficient lighting and appliances, heating system updates, water saving showerheads, air leakage reduction.

Do I qualify?
If you are a homeowner or renter in Dane or Green County and you received one of the following services within the past year, you may qualify for weatherization:

  • Energy/Fuel Assistance
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

INCOME GUIDELINES FOR THE 2007-2008 HEATING SEASON

You may also qualify if your total household income for the last three months falls at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
