Paint-a-thon

21st Annual Paint-a-thon on Saturday, August 15

This year our goal is to paint 18 houses in August. Consider being a part of this fun and rewarding day helping out a family or elderly neighbor whose house will not weather the next winter very well. Helmus group 08 sm in

In August 2008, we washed, scraped and painted 15 houses in Dane County. Since 1989 the Paint-a-thon has washed, scraped and painted 463 homes and have improved the homes of the owners in 27 Dane County communities.  Click on the Paint-a-thon Photo Gallery on the left to see several houses painted last year.

There were approximately 300 volunteers of all skill levels, many of whom return year after year, and a couple professional painting companies that head up some of the houses. Companies, social service organizations, churches, and families have a great time and enjoy helping a neighbor in need.

A big thanks goes out to Hallman-Lindsay who generously donates all the paint each year, that's 150 gallons give or take a few. Also, we are fortunate to have a representative from Carpenters Local 314, Mike Carey a professional painter, who volunteers to review and evaluate all of the homes that apply for the program each year. He also heads up at least one of the Paint-a-thon houses too.

"I am proud to own my own home and daycare even though maintenance is a struggle for me. I am so appreciative of the fantastic paint job my home received and just want to say, thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will never forget how fortunate I was to be a part of the 2008 Dane County Paint-a-thoLapp kids sign 08 sm inn."  Ruth Lapp
