RODNEY SCHEEL HOUSE

The Rodney Scheel House is a small independent living apartment complex for HIV positive individuals and families. At the Rodney Scheel House we help individuals with HIV/AIDS link up to services, make new friends and experience the best possible life.
HISTORY
Rodney Charles Scheel spent his entire life creating communities for those who needed help. He leveraged his position as a community leader and businessman to provide employment opportunities for hundreds. He housed the homeless and developed a forum for artists. Rodney Scheel had a way of making everyone feel welcome.
When Rodney was diagnosed with HIV, he became aware of the severe lack of housing and long-term care available for those living with HIV/AIDS. During his illness, he worked tirelessly to create one last community – an independent living facility which became the Rodney Scheel House on Madison’s East Side.
Rodney is no longer with us, but his spirit lives on through the Rodney Scheel House Foundation, Ltd. The Rodney Scheel House works with the residents to identify, offer and make affordable various support services that are appropriate to the individuals' needs.
