Dane Co. Major Rehab Program

The Dane County Rehabilitation Program (DCRP) is a non-interest bearing, deferred-payment loan program available through Project Home. A mortgage will be signed and filed to secure the re-payment of the loan when your home is sold or is no longer your main residence.

Major Home Repairs may include roofing, siding, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, safety concerns, and accessibility modifications. The home must be brought up to code at the completion of the renovations. If you received work through our Minor Home Repair program, there is a three year wait for DCRP services. Condos and mobile homes on leased land are not eligible.

Charge to Customers: Non-interest bearing loan, which is to be repaid upon sale of the home.

Eligibility Requirements:
Area Served: Dane County - except the City of Madison and non-participating communities.

Home Assessment at or below:
Single Family Home $184,000
Duplex: $236,000

Other Eligibility Requirements:
Must reside in one of the participating municipalities.
Participants must be in good standing with all other mortgage holders.
Homes must need between $5,000 - $23,000 worth of repair work.
Your loan to value ratio cannot be over 95%. In other words, if you owe over 95% of the value of your home, you probably do not qualify for DCRP.

Green Co. Major Rehab Program

The Green County Major Home Rehabilitation Program is a non-interest bearing, five year forgivable loan program available through Project Home. A mortgage will be signed and filed but you will not have to pay off the loan if you remain in the home for five years or more. If you decide to move before the five years are up, you will be required to pay the remaining portion of the loan.

Major Home Repairs may include roofing, siding, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, safety concerns, and accessibility modifications. The home must be brought up to code at the completion of the renovations. Condos, rental properties and mobile homes are not eligible.

Charge to Customers: Non-interest bearing, forgivable loan. 20% of the loan amount is forgiven each year. There is no charge for the work if this property remains your residence for five years.
