City of Madison Minor Home Repair
(Funded by City of Madison Community Development)
The City of Madison Minor Home Repair Program offers low cost home repairs and accessibility modifications for qualified homeowners in the City of Madison. Homeowners pay the cost of materials and $15.00 per hour per person for labor.
Examples of services include: Ramps, Decks and Landings – Repairing or replacing leaky faucets, sinks & toilets – Replacing windows or doors – Installation of grab bars and railings for safety.
The Process:
- Free home inspection & cost estimate
- Homeowner pays 1/3 of estimate as down payment
- Work is scheduled and completed by Project Home staff
- Homeowner has 90 days to pay remainder of balance

Dane County Minor Home Repair
(Funded by the Dane County Community Development Block Grant Program)
The Dane County Minor Home Repair program is a grant program that makes necessary repairs for qualified homeowners in Dane County (not in the City of Madison). Homes in the following municipalities are not eligible to be served through the Dane County program: City of Edgerton, Village of Marshall, Village of Maple Bluff, and Village of Mazomanie. New construction or remodeling are not allowed through the program.

After the homeowner has qualified for the program, Project Home staff performs a Housing Quality Standards inspection. Only items that fail the HQS inspection are eligible to be repaired. Health and safety repairs and code violations are given priority.
