Sponsors Help Change Lives for Local Low-Income Community Members
Project Home's Hammer with a Heart home repair event (since 2002) and Paint-a-thon event (since 1989) rely on support from local businesses, foundations and individuals to provide the needed funds to purchase building materials and services that are not donated.
Each Spring, during Hammer with a Heart, skilled and community volunteers provide free major repairs and maintenance to 4-5 homes of low-income homeowners in Dane County. The average repair project is valued at $12,000 per house. Project Home has great relationships with many suppliers and service providers for donated items, but a number of materials (such as lumber, roofing supplies, windows and doors) still need to be purchased.
During the Summer, our long running Paint-a-thon program works with professional painters and community volunteers to paint between 4-7 homes for low-to-moderate income homeowners in Dane County. Some of the houses have been cited by their municipalities often due to neighbor complaints. Project Home is pleased to help these families, their neighbors and the city departments with these issues.
See the program pages for more details. A variety of recognition opportunities are available: television commercial, web video, social media, announcements at meetings and presentations, t-shirts and yard signs.
